Employment opportunity – Marine Education Boatshed

The Marine Education Boatshed is a marine safety training establishment on the Swan River in East Fremantle. It is run by the Department of Transport. A casual pool of staff is employed to deliver the training packages offered including the Recreational Skipper’s Ticket, Canoe, Sailing (Seatrek), snorkelling and water safety. The boatshed caters for students aged from primary to secondary school.
It is hoped to increase the number of casual staff employed due to increased demand for programs.

Christ Church Grammar School is a non-selective school for boys (PP-12) in Claremont, Australia. The academic performance of Christ Church boys’ consistently places graduates amongst the top schools in Australia.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Outdoor Educator who will join our team at the School’s Outdoor Education programme commencing 16 July for the remainder 2014. The School’s Outdoor Education programme has its base at "Kooringal", a fully staffed, self-contained Outdoor Education Centre situated in the jarrah forest on the north-western bank of the Murray River.

Kooringal fosters the idea of group living, where co-operation, caring, compromise and communication are the keys in guiding each boy to become positively aware of himself and to respect and appreciate others and the environment.

Kooringal is the base for the School's Outdoor Education programme and is divided between the residential setting at Kooringal in a nature based learning environment and on expedition incorporation a journey based learning philosophy. The programme comprises bush walking, camping, ropes course, canoeing and kayaking, orienteering, rock climbing, permaculture, sustainable living and environmental education.

The successful applicant will possess excellent teaching and interpersonal skills and ideally will have an exceptional understanding of innovative educational pedagogy and show an understanding of boys educational teaching and learning practices.

All staff are expected to be enthusiastic professionals and to be in sympathy with the ethos of an Anglican boys’ school. It is an expectation of the School that all members of staff contribute to the co-curricular programme in a way that balances the needs of the School and the teacher’s talents and interests.
